ROLE OF YOUTH IN NATION BUILDING

ROLE OF YOUTH IN.NATION BUILDING:-

( views expressed are own  )

“My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation, out of them will come my workers!”

-Swami Vivekananda.

Fortunately for india ,which have the world’s largest youth population ,the reality is far more than stereo typed observations.

As one travelled across the length and breadth of the country’s rural areas, towns , even metros -zeast of enthusiasm of the youth who thronged venues in schools ,colleges ,universities , organised events ,patiently listened to speeches on the saint patriot and engagged in social work to mark the occasion proved once again that in their commitment to a strong and prosperous motherland indian youth were in front.

You take a,case of Nirbhaya( Delhi rape case) who tooks to the streets lakhs protesting brutual assault.

Youth had no selfish motive behind ,many left jobs many took leave others absented from classes for coming together against cancer called CORRUPTION.

Youth all had only one mission – to make India a country of their dreams and a better place to live in.

They voted for good governance . They wanted an  end to corruption.,better job opportunities ,better roads and other infrastructure which have been denied even decades after independence.

Unfortunately in some parts there are attempts by anti national forces aided who are misleading the youth and lead them unto a futile and disastrous path of violence. e.g – Punjab and north east .(drugs addiction)

Any attempt to discriminate against our citizens from any part of country based on caste ,gender, language ,facial features, religion etc has to be condemned in strongest possible terms.

Indian youth is a peace loving .evident from the fact that second largest Muslim population in the world.only a handful of youth from minority community have fallen prey to propaganda of evil forces such as Islamic State .

As we had seen in kashmir couple of protesters raising IS flag does not mean majority of youth is also th e same . Just see the young IAS officer Shah Faisel.

You just travelled to kashmir valley .you will found that many youth even from downstream demande for smart classes.better schools and facilities.

Media particularly electronic media play a constructive role in projecting the positive iamge of our youth living in sensitive areas of country.

Young girls are doing exceedingly well in important national level examinations. Including civil services .(see this year civil services  result Ira Singhal)

Thanks to initiative “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”

Instead of merely depending on gov’t jobs , a large number of youth are turning in the private sector and self employment.

Thanks to Skill India and Mudra Banks.

Former US President John F Kennedy had once remarked that :-

“Ask not  what the country has done for you ,ask what you can do for country”

It also becomes the responsibility of nations youth to the country’s growth and development.

Patriotism is not about loving the country’s territory from Kashmir to Kanyakumari .and Gujrat to North East.

It is about sharing a Fellowship with each and every citizens living in all parts of country, treating their pains and pleasure as own.

We are Multi Ethenic, Multi Religious , Multi Linguistic country .

Career, job satisfaction ,friendships, entertainment are all important in one’s life but it is equally important that our Youth spare a thought for teeming millions in the country for whom two full meals a day continues to be luxary.

Here we should know that taxes are not paid only by rich and middle class .poor and underprivileged peoples also pay it.

(from every product beedi to biscuit.)

Even if our youth spend some quality time in educating a street child or imparting him with some skills which would enable him or her to earn a decent livelihood .it would be a great service to the nation rather than throwing a penny or twoo into their begging bowl.

In similar way our city based youth do well visit to rural and tribal areas of country once in while to understand the real india.rather than govt.imposing a mandatory rural posting .as part of their national duty.

Our youth should choose to stay in the villages and uttilise their talents and skill to make life better for residents.

Massive participation by youth in last general elections showed their immense faith in democracy.

For a democracy to be successful ,it has to be participatory.

Youth should shed indifference to the system and work towards improving governance through constitutional provision such as RTI.(Right to Information)

Nations conditions can not be improved by sitting in air conditioned rooms and having a pessimistic outlook.

Not everyone can be a solider or administrator to serve the nation , while one should be assertive about claiming one’s fundamental rights , one should be equally concious of one’s fundamental duties.

(One can effectively serve the nation by merely exercising these duties)

At the end  I would conclude conclude my wording here with Swami Vivekananda saying:-

Take up one idea,

Make that idea your life,

Dream of that idea,

Live on that idea.

Let the brain , nody ,muscles, nerves, every part of your body be full of that idea ,and just leave every other idea alone ”

This is the way to success ,and this is the way great spiritual giants are produced.
