Landmark Judgment by SC to Protect Good Samaritans Against Police and Legal Harassment
“3 out of 4 people in India hesitate to come forward and help road accident victims, and 88% of them do so due to fear of legal and procedural hassle.
The Law Commission of India observes that 50% of those killed in road accidents could have been saved had timely assistance been rendered to them.”
The court has requested media and aware citizens to spread awareness regarding this judgement so more people could come forward to help road victims or victims in emergency situations without being afraid of police harassment or legal troubles.
